SAMANTHA
This is the mainboard Sam440 "Samantha" that we saw at Pianeta Amiga :
- CPU : AMCC PowerPC 440 EP @ 667 Mhz
- RAM : 512Mb on board up to 1Gb on slot DDR 266 DIMM
- Gfx : ATI Radeon Mobility M9 with 64Mb on Chip
- Audio : Cirrus Logic CS4281 con Audio in, Line in, Mic in, CD/DVD in
- Controller SATA Silicon Image 3114 with 4 connectors Serial ATA
- 1 x Serial port with a standard DB9 connector
- 2 x 10/100 ethernet ports
- 1 x Slot PCI and 1 optional Slot MiniPCI
- 1 x Socket Disk On Chip
- 1 x SmartMedia reader for SmartCard
- 1 x connector GPIO, General Purpose Input/Output
- 1 x FPGA Chip
- Controller USB 2.0 NEC
- 1x connector CCTalk ( optional )
Now a little explanation of Samantha :
The Ati Radeon Mobility other than the standard input and output ( VGA, DVI and S-Video ), has a LVDS connector to attach laptop monitor the mainboard.. so let's think about of what is possible to have !.. finally !
The Controller USB 2.0 has 4 connectors 2.0 ( 2 front and 2 rear ) + 1 connector USB 1.1 internally controlled by CPU
The Disk On Chip is an hard disk to a solid state without moving parts
The GPIO connector is like the 1200s Clock port but extremely more powerfull
The FPGA CPU is a programmable processor that allow to add more features
The CCTalk is used and so only needed if used in Coin-Op ( like the videogames )
Samantha should costs about 400 euro, but it could be lesser than that, if the sales will be higher.
The mainboard should be available for the trimester of 2007
